Job Title
Firmware Validation AI Intern
Role Summary
Intern role within the Silicon and Platform Engineering Group focused on applying AI to firmware validation and automation. The intern will develop autonomous AI agents, integrate tools and knowledge systems, and contribute to test-case development and failure investigation at component and code level.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Internship. Suitable for current students or recent graduates pursuing relevant technical degrees.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing AI agents and applying AI techniques to firmware testing and validation. Work will be hands-on, requiring collaboration with firmware and platform teams.
- Design and implement autonomous AI agents and agent architectures (e.g., LangChain or custom solutions).
- Build and integrate AI tools, APIs, and plugins to extend agent capabilities and workflows.
- Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, vector stores, and knowledge bases for agent memory and context.
- Implement multi-agent orchestration, task delegation, and workflow automation.
- Implement monitoring and evaluation for agent behavior, tool usage, and system reliability.
- Develop, execute, and maintain high-quality test cases for firmware validation.
- Investigate failures to component or code level using debug tools and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Contribute to software development, test processes, and documentation.
Requirements
Key technical skills and attributes required or strongly preferred.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with agent frameworks and tool integration patterns (e.g., LangChain, Copilot CLI, Codex), understanding of LLM architectures, prompt engineering, and function calling.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of RAG techniques, vector databases, and embedding systems.
-
Must-have: Solid software development skills in one or more languages such as C/C++, Rust, Python, Perl, JavaScript, and shell scripting.
-
Must-have: Understanding of computer system architecture across hardware and software and experience with software development and testing methodologies.
-
Nice-to-have: Frontend/UI skills for building agent interfaces and dashboards.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of UEFI/ACPI/SMBIOS/TPM/PCI and BIOS or prior firmware testing experience.
- Self-motivated learner with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field (student/intern status expected).
