Job Title
Firmware Systems Architect
Role Summary
Define firmware architecture, control interfaces, telemetry, and diagnostics for next-generation digital power management products used in AI, datacenter, and high-performance computing. Work at the intersection of embedded firmware, control systems, semiconductor hardware, validation, and system architecture.
This architecture-focused role partners with firmware implementation teams to produce scalable firmware frameworks, reference prototypes, and clear firmware-facing contracts across multiple product families.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 8+ years of experience in embedded firmware, embedded systems, or semiconductor product development focused on control-oriented firmware and digital power.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include defining firmware-facing architecture, collaborating across hardware and software disciplines, and producing prototypes and documentation to validate designs.
- Define firmware architecture and requirements for digital multiphase power controllers and related products.
- Design system-facing firmware interfaces for telemetry, monitoring, diagnostics, tuning, characterization, and control-loop support.
- Translate system-level needs into firmware APIs, data structures, timing expectations, and execution flows.
- Collaborate with systems, firmware, digital/analog design, verification, validation, applications, and tools teams.
- Support embedded characterization methods (signal injection, frequency-response measurement, fixed-point processing).
- Create reference implementations or early prototypes to reduce architectural risk.
- Document interface behavior, operating ranges, limits, timing requirements, and validation expectations.
- Establish reusable firmware patterns across product families while leaving production delivery to implementation teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 8+ years of experience in embedded firmware, embedded systems, digital power, SoC firmware, control-oriented firmware, or related semiconductor product development.
- Strong C programming experience for resource-constrained embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, embedded peripherals, interrupts, timers, register interfaces, and hardware bring-up.
- Knowledge of fixed-point math and implementation tradeoffs for control systems.
- Ability to translate system requirements into firmware APIs, data structures, execution flows, and testable contracts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to produce clear architecture documentation for multiple teams.
-
Nice-to-have: Python for automation/data analysis, experience with firmware test infrastructure, familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog or hardware modeling, frequency-response measurement and embedded auto-tuning, experience with digital power controllers and telemetry/diagnostics.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
