Job Title

Firmware PCIe Engineer

Role Summary

Work on firmware verification for NVIDIA networking products by supporting the NIC PCIe Test Bench (NPTB). The role focuses on integrating firmware into cluster-level verification environments, enabling end-to-end stack verification and performance testing for next-generation NICs.

Collaborate with design, verification, and architecture teams; maintain live-build flows; and develop automation and tooling to support verification workflows.

Experience Level

Mid-level — 2+ years of experience in embedded systems, firmware development, or hardware verification.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include firmware integration into simulation clusters, sequence development, automation, and cross-functional debugging.

  • Integrate PCIe firmware into the NPTB cluster-level verification environment to ensure end-to-end stack integrity.
  • Develop, maintain, and adapt firmware initialization sequences for the NPTB simulation environment.
  • Maintain the Firmware Live Build flow so verification environments can use the latest firmware binaries independently of formal releases.
  • Collaborate with DV, chip design, and architecture engineers to debug firmware–hardware interactions at cluster scale.
  • Automate workflows, test execution, and result analysis using scripting and AI tools.
  • Contribute firmware-centric verification components that model configuration, ISR handling, and gateway interactions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

Must-have:

  • 2+ years of experience in embedded systems, firmware development, or hardware verification.
  • Proficiency with scripting for automation, particularly Python.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture, memory interfaces, and hardware–software interactions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with PCIe architecture and networking protocols.
  • Exposure to hardware verification methodologies and languages (UVM, SystemVerilog).
  • Experience with continuous integration, simulation environments, and version control systems (Git, Gerrit).
  • Interest or experience with AI-native development workflows and tools (LLMs, Cursor).

Education Requirements

B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (explicitly stated). No certifications were specified; the posting also mentions a strong academic background as an alternative but does not define formal equivalence.
