Firmware Engineer Intern (BS/MS) - 2027 Co-op
Role Summary
Work on firmware development for Marvell's SerDes PHY and Analog Mixed-Signal IP within Central Engineering. The role focuses on developing and verifying firmware modules, supporting bring-up and production firmware, and implementing CI/CD practices to automate builds and tests.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship targeted to current Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's students; suitable for candidates with limited industry experience (0–1 years).
Responsibilities
Primary deliverables and activities:
- Develop and verify firmware for SerDes IP modules.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, build scripts, and automation.
- Create module design specifications, firmware source code, and related documentation.
- Perform debugging, hardware bring-up support, and production firmware tasks.
- Collaborate with firmware, design, application, and SoC teams to integrate solutions.
Requirements
Required and preferred technical skills:
- Must-have: Embedded firmware design, development, and debugging experience; strong Python programming skills; effective technical communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Nice-to-have: Microcontroller programming experience; C/C++ in bare-metal embedded environments; experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins); familiarity with chip design simulation and verification; knowledge of SerDes technology and PCIe host interfaces; exposure to AI/ML or LLM concepts.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled as a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
