Firmware Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Network Adapter Firmware team to design and implement firmware features for high-performance networking products used in cloud, HPC and storage environments. The team owns core NIC firmware components and verification infrastructure.
This is a hands-on engineering role working across architecture, hardware, and software teams to deliver, test, and maintain firmware for production systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 2+ years of firmware or embedded software experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include feature development, verification, and system-level debugging.
- Collaborate with architecture and software teams to define and implement firmware features.
- Develop and maintain core NIC firmware components in C/C++.
- Implement verifiers and tests for advanced features within a randomized firmware testing environment.
- Debug system-level issues and analyze HW/FW/SW interactions.
- Participate in software qualification, release, and maintenance processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 2+ years experience in firmware or embedded software development.
- Strong programming skills in C and C++.
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of network protocols (Ethernet, InfiniBand, RDMA, etc.).
- Prior verification or test-development experience.
- Real-time programming experience.
- Familiarity with storage protocols and Agile development methods.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Computer Science or Computer/Software/Electrical Engineering preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
