Role Summary

Develop, test, debug, and validate embedded firmware for Micron's data center SSD controllers. Work within the Data Center SSD Firmware team alongside cross-functional engineering groups to deliver reliable, high-performance storage firmware.

Experience Level

Mid-level engineer. Entry or initial experience in embedded firmware development expected; no specific years-of-experience stated.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include firmware development, debugging, and validation for SSD controllers.

• Support development, test, and debug of embedded firmware for SSD controllers.
• Analyze firmware issues and perform root-cause investigations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Contribute to validation, integration, and system-level testing activities.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established development processes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• Initial experience or academic background in embedded firmware development.
• Programming exposure to Python and one system-level language: C, C++, or Rust.
• Familiarity with development tools, scripting, and debugging environments.
• Ability to work effectively in multi-functional, collaborative teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Exposure to embedded systems and interaction with hardware components.
• Basic understanding of low-level programming concepts and debugging techniques.
• Internship or academic project experience in firmware or embedded software development.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical degree; equivalent practical experience is acceptable. Academic or internship experience in firmware/embedded software is mentioned as relevant.
