Job Title

Firmware Engineer

Role Summary

Join the FW Pre-Silicon team to develop and verify network adapter (NIC) firmware ahead of chip tape-out and production. The role requires close collaboration with chip design, firmware, and software teams and work with hardware emulation systems.

Daily work spans low-level C firmware that communicates with hardware, Python and Bash automation, and C++ regression environments.

Experience Level

Mid-level; minimum 2+ years of relevant firmware or embedded software experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Integrate chip design RTL drops into NIC firmware and validate integration.
  • Bring up next-generation NIC devices on hardware emulation systems.
  • Collaborate closely with chip design, firmware, verification, and software teams during integration.
  • Extend and adapt NIC firmware codebase to support new devices.
  • Improve team efficiency by adopting methodologies and automating routine tasks.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 2+ years of firmware or embedded software development experience.
  • Experience programming in C and C++ for low-level firmware.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems.
  • Proficiency with Python and Bash scripting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with pre-silicon activities and hardware emulation.
  • Real-time or embedded software development experience.
  • Familiarity with hardware verification concepts and tools.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and Linux.
  • Experience partnering with hardware and software teams to define and implement firmware.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (as listed in the posting).
