Role Summary
Design and implement low-level firmware, middleware, and diagnostic software for PHY chipsets within Broadcom's ASIC Products Division. Work across the full product lifecycle with system, analog, and digital hardware teams to deliver high-performance embedded solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8+ years of industry experience in digital communication systems, high-speed SerDes, or HBM protocols.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include firmware architecture, development, verification, and support for new and legacy products.
- Architect and implement low-level firmware modules, middleware, and diagnostic software in embedded C/C++.
- Maintain and extend legacy firmware for new product releases.
- Collaborate with system, analog, and digital hardware designers to define interfaces and verify functionality.
- Support pre-silicon RTL and software co-simulation activities.
- Lead silicon bring-up, lab validation, and on-hardware debugging.
- Provide leadership on architectural governance, design patterns, and code hygiene.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- Strong coding and debugging skills in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Experience with pre-silicon / RTL and software co-simulation environments.
- Proven experience debugging complex firmware on lab hardware and during silicon bring-up.
- Experience with digital communication systems; high-speed SerDes or HBM protocol experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead architectural decisions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
