Role Summary

Join Broadcom's Data Center Solutions Group embedded storage systems team to design, implement, and debug low-level firmware for storage controllers. The role emphasizes RAID functionality on ARM-based microprocessors and involves cross-functional collaboration across hardware, validation, and product teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 2+ years of related firmware or embedded systems experience.

Responsibilities

Work across the full firmware development lifecycle to deliver and support storage product features.

  • Develop and maintain firmware for storage products.
  • Implement and test features for products using PCIe, NVMe, and/or SAS/SATA protocols.
  • Support product validation, firmware releases, and integration with hardware and validation teams.
  • Collect and analyze logs to root-cause functional, performance, and data-integrity issues.
  • Participate in design and implementation reviews for storage features.
  • Troubleshoot low-level firmware/hardware interactions using DSTREAM and logic analyzers.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Strong programming skills in C; experience with embedded processors (ARM).
  • Must-have: Practical experience with storage protocols or firmware for PCIe, NVMe, and/or SAS/SATA.
  • Must-have: Experience debugging firmware/hardware interactions and analyzing logs to resolve functional and data-integrity issues.
  • Must-have: Experience across firmware development lifecycle and collaborating with hardware/validation teams.
  • Must-have: Experience using AI/LLM-based tools in an embedded firmware workflow (code generation, review, debugging, test-case generation, or documentation).
  • Nice-to-have: Assembly language familiarity.
  • Nice-to-have: Direct experience with RAID functionality and storage controller design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (CS), Computer/Electrical Engineering (ECE/EE) plus 2+ years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in CS, ECE, or EE.
