Firmware Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work on the Systems Design Engineering team to develop and validate firmware and system-level solutions for AMD SoC products. Focus areas include bring-up, validation, technical debug, and building automated, scalable validation infrastructure.

This role is hybrid and based in Santa Clara, CA. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for the role.

• Develop and maintain tools, scripts, and automation to improve validation capabilities.
• Debug issues found during bring-up, validation, and production; perform root-cause analysis.
• Plan, track, and report test execution to ensure timely validation and optimization of features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional hardware and software teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Perform board/platform-level debug, sequencing, analysis, and optimization.
• Contribute to software/hardware modeling frameworks and validation methodology improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items reflect listed experience.

• Proficient in programming and scripting (examples: C/C++, Python, Perl, Ruby).
• Strong system- and platform-level debug techniques and methodologies.
• Experience with common lab equipment (protocol/logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
• Experience with board/platform bring-up, delivery, sequencing, and analysis.
• Knowledge of system architecture and validation strategy.
• Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
