Job Title
Field Applications Engineer (FAE) — Analog & Power
Role Summary
Serve as the technical lead for analog and power solutions, supporting system-level design engagements with key customers. Provide pre- and post-design support including schematic review, component selection, debugging, and production readiness to drive design-ins and design wins.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 6+ years of experience in analog and power electronics in design, applications, or customer-facing engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership for power architecture, hands-on debugging, and customer enablement.
- Lead customer power-architecture development: power-tree design, device selection, and system optimization.
- Perform technical design reviews, root-cause analysis, and hands-on debugging of complex analog and power issues.
- Evaluate new products and competitive positioning for PMICs, DC/DC converters, LDOs, battery-management, and signal-chain solutions.
- Conduct laboratory activities: board bring-up, measurement, validation, and failure analysis.
- Support system-level integration among power, processor, and connectivity subsystems.
- Provide direct technical guidance to accelerate customer designs from concept to production.
- Deliver customer training, technical seminars, and internal enablement content.
- Provide field feedback to product divisions to influence roadmaps and identify system-solution gaps.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for this role.
- 6+ years of experience in analog and power electronics in a design, applications, or customer-facing role.
- Proven ability to lead customers through architecture, schematic review, and production readiness.
- Experience with schematic and PCB layout review, power integrity, thermal considerations, and system-level tradeoffs.
- Hands-on laboratory proficiency with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, transient-response measurements, and bench characterization.
- Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration skills with sales, FAEs, distribution, product marketing, and business units.
- Experience delivering technical presentations, workshops, and customer training.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–20%.
- Ability to translate component-level expertise into system-level solutions and provide actionable field feedback.
Nice-to-have:
- Deep expertise in power conversion and management: buck/boost converters, PMICs, LDOs, power sequencing, and battery-powered system design.
- Strong understanding of analog signal chains: amplifiers, data converters, filtering, noise, stability, and signal integrity.
- Knowledge of interactions with MCUs/MPUs, DDR, high-speed interfaces, AI platforms, and connectivity subsystems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
