Field Applications Engineer
Role Summary
The Field Applications Engineer provides technical pre- and post-sales support for RF, FPGA and acceleration solutions, focusing on design wins and customer success. This role works with sales, engineering and supplier teams to develop demos, troubleshoot systems, and deliver technical proposals.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Candidate with 2β3 years of related experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include customer-facing engineering support, demonstration and implementation of programmable logic device (PLD) solutions, and collaboration with internal and supplier teams to drive sales opportunities.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers on RF, FPGA and PLD solutions (pre- and post-sales).
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues at board and system level, including onsite support when required.
- Develop, code and implement demo designs to show PLD capabilities and differentiate solutions for design wins.
- Advise customers on selection and use of development tools, silicon and IP.
- Work with sales to create demand, contribute to territory/account/opportunity plans and support technical proposals.
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, field and factory resources to align customer requirements and product enhancements.
- Identify and build relationships with supplier and customer decision makers to influence designs and projects.
- Stay current on RF, FPGA and AI/ML acceleration technologies through supplier training and research.
Requirements
Core technical skills and customer-facing abilities required; listing distinguishes must-have from nice-to-have.
- Must-have: Strong fundamentals in digital electronics and RTL design (VHDL / Verilog / SystemVerilog); practical FPGA programming and board-level debugging experience.
- Must-have: Experience with RF designs and embedded systems; ability to troubleshoot hardware issues.
- Must-have: Effective problem-solving, communication and presentation skills suitable for a sales engineering environment.
- Must-have: Willingness and ability to travel within North India to support customers.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with C for embedded systems, Linux OS concepts, and model-based DSP design using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Nice-to-have: Prior customer-facing technical role or experience influencing design decisions with suppliers.
Education Requirements
BE / BTech / ME / MSc in Electronics, Telecommunications or equivalent, or equivalent practical experience.
