Job Title

Field Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Provide technical support and application expertise for Silvaco simulation and TCAD products to customers, working closely with sales to map solutions to customer workflows and drive account adoption.

Engage with customers to run evaluations, validate solutions, troubleshoot implementation issues, and capture feedback that informs product and sales strategies.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” 0–3 years of industry or relevant research experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer-facing technical support, solution validation, and collaboration with sales and product teams.

  • Work with customers to capture, isolate, and document technical issues; provide workarounds and escalate verified bugs to product teams.
  • Understand customer workflows and success criteria; define and execute evaluation plans to validate Silvaco solutions.
  • Support product installations and validate correct tool configuration at customer sites.
  • Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and training to customers and sales teams.
  • Recommend configuration and workflow improvements based on observed customer obstacles.
  • Document evaluations and support cases in Salesforce CRM and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
  • Monitor relevant application and workflow advancements to advise customers and influence product roadmaps.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes for success in the role.

  • 0–3 years of industry or applied research experience with semiconductor manufacturing, R&D, or integrated circuit design processes.
  • Demonstrated use of design, modeling, or simulation tools in coursework, research, or industry projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills for customer engagement and cross-team collaboration.
  • Creative problem-solving, persistence in tracking complex problems, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with commercial TCAD tools (Silvaco or third-party), TCAD calibration, or design-of-experiments workflow.
  • Application-specific experience (CMOS image sensors, RF devices, BCD technologies) or electrical device characterization.
  • Familiarity with statistical tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab) and Python scripting.
  • Experience collaborating in international or remote team environments.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, Solid State Physics, or a semiconductor-related academic program; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
