Job Title
Field Applications Engineer — Analog & Power
Role Summary
Lead technical field engagements for Renesas power and analog products across New England and Eastern Canada. Serve as the regional technical authority for power architecture, design reviews, hands-on lab validation, and customer enablement to drive design-ins to production.
Work closely with sales, product teams, and customers to resolve system-level power issues and influence product roadmaps.
Experience Level
Mid-level; requires minimum 3 years' relevant experience in analog and power electronics (customer-facing or design role).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer support, design reviews, hands-on debugging, and technical enablement.
- Lead customer power architecture development: power-tree design, device selection, and system optimization.
- Perform schematic and PCB reviews, root-cause analysis, and hands-on debug for analog and power issues.
- Execute lab work: board bring-up, measurement, validation, and failure analysis.
- Evaluate new products and maintain competitive positioning for PMICs, DC/DC, GaN, MOSFETs, LDOs, and battery management.
- Integrate power solutions with processors and connectivity subsystems; address power and thermal integrity concerns.
- Provide technical guidance to accelerate designs from concept to production revenue.
- Deliver customer trainings, seminars, and internal enablement materials.
- Collect and deliver field feedback to product teams to influence roadmap and feature prioritization.
- Travel to customer sites as needed (approximately 10–20%).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role; preferred items are labeled.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in analog and power electronics in a customer-facing or design role.
- Hands-on lab proficiency with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal analysis, and transient response measurements.
- Experience with power conversion and management: buck/boost converters, PMICs, LDOs, power sequencing, and battery systems.
- Strong understanding of analog signal chain: amplifiers, data converters, sensors, filtering, noise/stability, and signal integrity.
- Ability to perform schematic and PCB layout reviews with focus on power integrity and thermal considerations.
- Proven capability to lead system-level power architecture and debug complex power-related issues.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills; able to translate technical content into solutions.
- Ability to collaborate across product, sales, and engineering teams and influence product direction.
- Travel flexibility (~10–20%).
-
Preferred: experience with GaN/MOSFETs, bench characterization of power systems, and interactions between power and MCUs/MPUs/DDR/high-speed interfaces.
Education Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE preferred.
