Field Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Join Micron's Customer Engineering team supporting High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) customers. The role focuses on technical engagement, qualification, and problem resolution to enable successful memory product integration and revenue growth.

Experience Level

Mid-level: typically requires at least 5 years of relevant engineering experience in DRAM, memory systems, or compute system design.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical customer engagement, qualification activities, and cross-functional problem resolution.

  • Manage HBM program alignment and qualification activities with key customers.
  • Serve as local technical point of contact and escalation for HBM customers.
  • Coordinate with Micron and customer qualification labs to execute tests and debug issues.
  • Influence engagement strategies and track technical progress with sales and business units.
  • Identify new business and technical needs during customer interactions.
  • Drive resolution of critical technical issues across multi-functional teams.
  • Provide memory architecture advice, product recommendations, and technical training to customers.
  • Interface with hands-on validation teams to provide real-time technical expertise during testing.

Required and preferred skills for successful performance.

Must-have:

  • Hands-on lab experience with memory design-in and validation (oscilloscope and logic analyzer usage).
  • At least 5 years experience in design, product, test, support, system, or applications engineering related to DRAM or compute systems.
  • Experience with lab design and deployment and problem-solving during qualification or NPI.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally, including executive-level customer interactions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Nice-to-have:

  • Direct HBM or GDDR experience.
  • Advanced packaging/integration and failure analysis experience during NPI.
  • Quality and reliability experience.
