Field Application Security IP, Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Customer-facing technical lead for Synopsys Security IP who drives technical engagements across the sales cycle. Works with system architects, security teams, firmware and hardware designers, and account teams to define solutions, demonstrations, and success criteria for Security IP opportunities.

Part of a global Applications Engineering team focused on Security IP; collaborates closely with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and R&D to translate customer requirements into product and competitive strategy.

Responsibilities

Technical leadership and customer engagement throughout the sales and evaluation process.

  • Lead technical discovery, architecture discussions, product demonstrations, evaluations, and definition of success criteria with customers.
  • Act as technical lead for Security IP opportunities and guide customers on selecting security solutions (cryptographic accelerators, Root of Trust, PUF, PQC, interface security).
  • Engage system architects, security teams, hardware designers, and firmware developers to capture objectives and constraints.
  • Develop differentiated technical solutions and deliver workshops, presentations, and demos that show technical value and competitive differentiation.
  • Collaborate with account teams on technical strategy and with Product Management and R&D to communicate customer requirements and market trends.
  • Represent the company at industry events, customer workshops, and technical forums; contribute to internal enablement and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

Core qualifications and skills required to perform the role; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of experience in semiconductor IP, ASIC/SoC development, embedded systems, hardware security, or related technical fields.
  • Must-have: Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills; ability to discuss technical solutions with architects, designers, engineering management, and executives.
  • Must-have: Understanding of semiconductor design methodologies and SoC development processes; ability to translate complex customer requirements into practical solutions.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple customer engagements independently.
  • Must-have: Ability to travel as required to support customer engagements.
  • Nice-to-have: Applied cryptography, hardware security architecture, secure boot/Root of Trust, PUF, PQC, embedded processors and firmware.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with security certification/compliance, security protocol implementations, or semiconductor IP business models/technical sales.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
