Field Application Engineer β India Sales
Role Summary
The Field Application Engineer (FAE) is the technical interface between customers and MPS sales and R&D teams, driving design-in, resolving technical issues, and enabling adoption of MPS power products in customer systems.
The role supports pre-sales and post-sales activities, product evaluations and qualification, on-site troubleshooting, and creation of application documentation for power-management solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level; typically requires 3+ years of experience in FAE, hardware design, power architecture, or applications engineering.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for MPS products.
- Work with customers' engineering teams to understand system requirements and recommend power solutions.
- Support design-in and design-win activities: schematic reviews, component selection, and system optimization.
- Assist customers with board bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting hardware and system-level issues.
- Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training to customers and internal teams.
- Coordinate with R&D and product engineering to resolve complex technical problems.
- Develop and maintain application notes, technical documentation, and reference designs.
- Support customer evaluations, prototypes, and qualification processes; gather customer feedback for roadmap input.
- Travel to customer sites as required to provide on-site technical support.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 3+ years of experience in field application engineering, hardware design, power architecture, or applications engineering.
- Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices and electronic systems, including DC-DC converter/controllers and AC-DC topologies.
- Experience with analog, digital, power, or mixed-signal ICs; ability to read schematics, datasheets, and PCB layouts.
- Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and power supplies.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; customer-facing experience.
- Willingness to travel for customer-site support.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in power management for energy meters, UPS/inverters, automotive electronics, or industrial applications.
- Familiarity with firmware or software tools and knowledge of EMI/EMC standards and compliance requirements.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
