Job Title

Field Application Engineer - DFT

Role Summary

Provide technical and sales support for Siemens EDA Tessent DFT tools to customers across Japan. Work with customers to propose and implement test solutions, troubleshoot DFT issues, and relay customer requirements to R&D.

This role sits in the Sales/Software organization and requires customer-facing work, occasional travel, and collaboration with product development teams in the United States.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting does not specify a required number of years of experience but expects practical experience in DFT and ASIC/SoC test technologies.

Responsibilities

Primary duties focus on customer-facing technical support and solution delivery for DFT and test-related products.

  • Provide sales and technical support for the Tessent DFT tool suite.
  • Consult with customers to propose, deploy, and validate test solutions (DFT, ATPG, BIST, fault simulation, JTAG workflows).
  • Troubleshoot customer designs and workflows; reproduce and analyze issues on customer projects.
  • Communicate customer requirements and feedback to the U.S.-based product development team.
  • Customer visits across Japan; support hybrid work from the Shinagawa office and remote work as required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, plus a list of preferred experience.

  • Must-have: Solid foundation in DFT concepts including scan insertion, ATPG/fault simulation, Memory BIST and Logic BIST, and JTAG (IEEE 1149.1).
  • Must-have: Knowledge of IC/ASIC/SoC test methodologies and workflows.
  • Must-have: Scripting experience with TCL and shell scripts for automation and tool integration.
  • Must-have: Ability to read and write technical documents in English and perform basic conversational English.
  • Preferred: Experience with Tessent or competing DFT/test tools (e.g., Synopsys TestMAX, Cadence Modus).
  • Preferred: Automotive IC design/verification experience and familiarity with standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC-Q100.
  • Preferred: Experience with static timing analysis, logic equivalence/logic transparency verification, IC layout knowledge, or analog/mixed-signal design and verification.
  • Preferred: Experience in technical sales or support at an EDA vendor or reseller, and software development experience.

Education Requirements

University graduate (bachelor's) or higher preferred. Graduates of junior colleges or technical colleges are acceptable; graduates of vocational schools or high school are not acceptable. No specific field-of-study, certifications, or explicit equivalent-experience language were specified.
