Field Application Engineer

Role Summary

Work with manufacturing, quality, and failure analysis teams to ensure reliability, manufacturability, and quality of NVIDIA GPU and networking products from NPI through high-volume production and field returns. The role emphasizes root cause analysis, yield improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Frequent on-site work at labs or manufacturing sites is expected despite the remote posting.

Mid-level - typically requires 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as technical specialist for GPU and networking hardware; support manufacturing, quality, and failure analysis teams.
  • Identify failure modes, manufacturing risks, and product requirements; drive corrective actions and design/process improvements.
  • Perform frequent on-site diagnostics, reproduce failures, and resolve hardware/system-level issues in labs and manufacturing sites.
  • Support product lifecycle from NPI through high-volume manufacturing and field returns, focusing on quality and reliability.
  • Develop failure analysis methodologies, test plans, and diagnostic tools for hardware validation.
  • Provide technical training and documentation on failure modes and debugging techniques to manufacturing and test teams.
  • Establish and maintain technical relationships with internal engineering, manufacturing partners, and quality teams to expedite root cause determination and corrective actions.

Requirements

Primary qualifications and skills.

Must-have:
  • 5+ years experience in high‑tech electronics manufacturing, failure analysis, validation, or hardware debug roles.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple failure investigations, escalations, and yield improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for root cause analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and ability to present technical findings to engineering and management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment and coordinate cross-functional investigations.
Nice-to-have:
  • Experience with ARM and NVIDIA GPU development.
  • Knowledge of Embedded Linux, system-level debugging tools, and APIs.
  • Experience with manufacturing partners, ODMs/OEMs, or reliability/quality teams in high-volume production.
  • In-depth understanding of CPU/GPU architecture and system-level failure mechanisms.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.
