Field Application Engineer (Analog Mixed Signal)
Role Summary
As a Field Application Engineer you will support customers using Siemens EDA's custom IC tool suite, focusing on analog and mixed-signal design flows. You will enable customer success by diagnosing design issues, providing technical solutions, and collaborating with R&D and Sales to improve product usability and adoption.
Work closely with advanced-node design teams to apply statistical analysis and Monte Carlo techniques to improve yield and design robustness.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 5–6+ years of relevant experience in analog/mixed-signal design or EDA applications.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical expertise and on-site or remote support to top customers using Siemens EDA custom IC products.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex circuit and flow issues on customer designs.
- Collaborate with R&D to define product roadmap, specifications, and validation tests.
- Partner with Sales and customers to identify technical requirements and drive product adoption and retention.
- Perform simulations, statistical analysis, and Monte Carlo studies to improve design yield and robustness.
- Deliver presentations and technical briefings to customer engineering and management teams.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills:
- Must-have: Practical experience with Virtuoso/ADE toolset.
- Must-have: Working knowledge of SPICE-family simulators such as Spectre, Hspice, AFS, Eldo, Finesim, or Prime Sim.
- Must-have: Good understanding of statistical fundamentals and Monte Carlo analysis for IC design.
- Must-have: Understanding of yield considerations for standard cell, IO, memory, and custom analog designs.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Solido Variation Aware, High Sigma Monte Carlo, or Spectre FMC.
- Nice-to-have: Circuit design and debugging experience.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Unix shell, Python) for automation and analysis.
- Behavioral: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to build close working relationships with customer teams.
Education Requirements
BE/ME in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. The posting specifies 5–6+ years of relevant experience.
