Field Application Engineer - 2027 New College Graduate (Santa Clara)

Role Summary

Provide technical support to customers and align GlobalFoundries (GF) semiconductor technologies with customer application requirements. Support evaluations, drive design wins, and assist through design-in, tapeout, and first-pass silicon validation.

Work with account teams and internal subject-matter experts to create application-specific technical materials and to resolve technical issues that could affect design-win conversion.

Experience Level

Entry-level - New college graduate. Suitable for recent graduates (0–1 years of professional experience).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include direct customer engagement, technical evaluation support, and cross-functional collaboration to enable successful product development and first-time-right silicon outcomes.

  • Engage with customers to understand technical needs and map them to GF technology solutions.
  • Learn GF technology offerings and collaborate with internal experts to identify key differentiators.
  • Create application-specific technical presentations, proposals, and customer-facing documentation.
  • Support customers through technical evaluations, design-in activities, and tapeout processes.
  • Identify and help resolve technical issues that could impact design-win conversions or tapeout readiness.
  • Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) requirements in all activities.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and core expectations for candidates.

  • Overall GPA of at least 3.0.
  • English fluency, written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Demonstrated communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and customers.

Education Requirements

Graduating with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Science, or a related field from an accredited program. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Relevant coursework may include Circuit Design, Semiconductor Device Physics, or Materials Science. Prior internship or co-op experience is preferred but not required.
