Field Application Engineer
Role Summary
Technical pre-sales and post-sales engineer supporting functional verification solutions for semiconductor customers in the Silicon Valley region. Work with customers to integrate verification products and services at block, chip, and system levels and to drive adoption of verification best practices.
Role involves customer-facing consulting, training, failure analysis, and coordination with product engineering to shape product direction. Up to 25% domestic travel; may telecommute from a commutable distance.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires about 3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership with customers, integration and validation of verification flows, and technical enablement.
- Provide technical leadership for verification solutions and coordinate technical engagements with customers.
- Integrate and validate products and services in customer environments at block/chip/system levels.
- Assess customer environments and define verification plans and requirements.
- Deliver customer training, consulting, and technical presentations; produce technical white papers and materials.
- Communicate customer requirements and feedback to product engineering and influence product direction.
- Participate in local/regional technical seminars and conferences to promote verification solutions.
- Travel domestically (up to 25%) and support hybrid/field-based customer work.
Requirements
Technical skills and experience required for the role.
- Designing and implementing digital logic using HDLs (Verilog, VHDL) and HVLs including SystemVerilog/UVM and related verification languages and methodologies (directed, constrained-random, coverage modeling, assertions, UPF).
- Creating advanced testbenches and simulating complex SoC environments; generating makefiles and developing automation scripts in Python, Perl, and C/C++.
- Troubleshooting, triaging, and debugging RTL and verification environments; simulator performance tuning to improve regression efficiency and runtime.
- Knowledge of semiconductor IC technologies including ASIC/SoC architectures, memory subsystems, interconnect protocols, CPU microarchitectures, and embedded system components.
Education Requirements
Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Nanotechnology, or a related field plus 36 months of experience in the job offered or in a Field Application Engineer-related occupation.
