Role Summary

The Field Application Engineer 3 provides pre-sales technical support and post-sales technical guidance to drive customer adoption and account expansion for Siemens EDA solutions. The role partners with account teams, presents technical solutions, supports evaluations and deployments, and mentors junior Field AEs.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical guidance: 3+ years in applications or customer-facing engineering roles and significant hands-on experience in digital IC/FPGA design (the posting specifies 5+ years in digital design).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on customer engagement, technical discovery, and enabling successful evaluations and deployments.

• Build and maintain technical relationships with engineering and first-line management stakeholders.
• Perform technical discovery to understand customer requirements, design flows, and competitive challenges.
• Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations of Siemens EDA solutions and their value.
• Support sales campaigns with evaluations, pilot projects, and solution positioning.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Support, and Services to execute customer engagements.
• Drive product adoption by advising on workflows, methodologies, and deployments.
• Provide input on solution configuration and licensing based on customer needs.
• Troubleshoot evaluation and deployment issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Share customer and competitive insights with internal teams to inform product and go-to-market decisions.
• Mentor and guide junior Field Application Engineers and contribute to team knowledge development.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

• Must-have: 3+ years of experience as an Applications Engineer or similar customer-facing technical role.
• Must-have: 5+ years experience in digital IC/FPGA design from RTL to gate-level (Verilog/VHDL).
• Good understanding of SoC architectures and design methodologies.
• Proficiency with core EDA tools and design environments (simulation, verification, synthesis).
• Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to engage technical audiences and communicate at all levels.
• Self-starter capable of managing own work and multiple concurrent tasks; strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Nice-to-have: Experience extending or integrating tools via scripting, APIs, or configuration; prior mentoring experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (The posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.)
