Role Summary

AMD’s Cores Organization is seeking a seasoned VLSI physical design engineer to enhance our innovative team, contributing to the next generation of CPUs and caches. This key role supports AMD's server, client, and gaming segments.

Experience Level

This position requires a minimum of 15 years of hands-on hardware design experience, ideally with a strong foundation in computer architecture and VLSI design.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead for high-speed VLSI design utilizing deep submicron FinFET processes.
  • Collaborate with RTL and physical designers to enhance power, performance, area, and project timelines.
  • Address complex design and tool challenges, championing innovative solutions within the organization.
  • Create and deliver technical presentations for peer and management review.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers to promote their development.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in high-speed VLSI design.
  • In-depth understanding of computer architecture and design trade-offs.
  • Proficient in Chip Level Floor Planning, Clock Tree Synthesis, Physical Verification, and Sign Off processes.
  • Ability to interpret and make minor adjustments to complex Verilog RTL for timing or power improvements.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Perl and C.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
