FE Engineer
AppleJob Title
FE Engineer
Role Summary
Work on front-end SoC design for wireless communication IPs within Apple's hardware teams. Collaborate with SoC design, verification, STA, physical design, CAD and flow teams to implement RTL, integrate IPs, and meet timing, power, and test requirements.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No specific years of experience stated.
Responsibilities
Deliver RTL and front-end integration for SoC blocks and ensure designs meet functional, timing, power, and test requirements.
- Develop RTL from micro-architecture specifications; implement complex FSMs and low-power features.
- Integrate IPs including clock/reset modules, clock/power gating, and fabric/bus configuration.
- Collaborate with STA, physical, power, and verification teams to resolve timing, power, and logical issues.
- Work with CAD and flow teams to define and improve front-end design methodologies and automation.
- Implement DFT and CDC handling; set synthesis constraints and manage ECO flows.
- Optimize designs for power and performance.
- Participate in design reviews, produce documentation, and communicate design progress.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Proficient in SystemVerilog or Verilog for RTL design and verification of wireless communication IPs.
- Experience with scripting (Python, Perl, or TCL) to automate RTL integration, synthesis flows, and timing report generation.
- Knowledge of CDC/RDC tools and multi-clock/multi-reset domain issues and fixes.
- Experience with IP integration, clock/reset design, and clock/power gating implementations.
- Experience with industry low-power methodologies and checks (UPF/CPF).
- Familiarity with high-speed interface design (source-synchronous buses).
- Experience using synthesis tools (Synopsys, Cadence), setting constraints, and working with LEC/LEQ and ECOs.
- Understanding of computer architecture and SoC design concepts.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field is required.
