Job Title
FBAR Filter Designer
Role Summary
Lead design and integration of FBAR-based RF front-end filters and modules for 5G and Wi‑Fi products. Own the design lifecycle from acoustic resonator synthesis through die layout, package co-design, simulation, verification, and handoff for high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 7+ years with a PhD or ~10+ years with a Master’s in RF/microwave or acoustic filter design, per the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities span device, package, and module design, simulation, and verification.
- Design high‑Q FBAR filters and multiplexers and perform acoustic resonator synthesis.
- Own die layout and package floor planning; optimize for parasitics and thermal dissipation.
- Co‑design interfaces between acoustic die, laminate, and PCB to meet signal integrity and performance targets.
- Lead 3D EM co‑simulation to model package‑level parasitics, interconnects, and coupling.
- Perform Monte Carlo and corner analyses to ensure robust performance for high‑volume manufacturing.
- Collaborate with process, modeling, test, module, and other design teams to correlate simulations with measured lab data and drive iterations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Deep understanding of FBAR/BAW/SAW physics or extensive experience in RFFE module integration and RF/microwave circuit theory.
- Expert proficiency with circuit and EM simulation tools, including ADS and 3D EM tools (HFSS, CST, Sonnet, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of RFFE architectures, including carrier aggregation and coexistence specifications.
- Proven track record of successful tape-outs or shipping high‑volume products.
- Experience with yield and verification methods for HVM (Monte Carlo, corner analysis).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience working across cross‑functional teams.
Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with package‑level signal integrity, thermal optimization, and laminate/PCB integration.
Education Requirements
PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics with 7+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant RF/microwave or acoustic filter / RFFE module design experience. Fields referenced: EE, Physics, or closely related technical disciplines.
