FBAR Designer

Role Summary

Design and optimize FBAR (BAW) filters to meet stringent linear and non-linear performance targets and high power-handling requirements. Translate simulation results into manufacturable designs and validate performance through measurement and analysis.

Work closely with cross-functional teams (layout, process, test, and system RF) to improve product performance and reliability.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Years of experience not specified; advanced technical expertise in FBAR/BAW or RF filter design is expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and optimize FBAR/BAW filters for target linearity, non-linearity, and power-handling specifications.
• Perform EM and circuit simulations and correlate results with measured device performance.
• Create and review mask layouts using Cadence or equivalent layout CAD tools.
• Develop test plans, analyze measurement data, and iterate designs based on results.
• Collaborate with process, test, and system teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability.
• Document designs, simulation assumptions, and verification results; present findings in design reviews.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and preferred experience.

• Must-have: Proficiency with EM tools (e.g., HFSS), circuit simulators (e.g., ADS), and layout CAD (Cadence or equivalent).
• Must-have: Solid understanding of device physics and ability to correlate simulation to measured performance.
• Nice-to-have: Experience developing and leading FBAR (BAW) or SAW filter designs.
• Nice-to-have: Deep understanding of RF block and chain design.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to work with cross-functional engineering groups.

Education Requirements

MS or Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field of study.
