Job Title

Failure Analysis Engineer - Nanoprobing (2nd Shift)

Role Summary

Perform electrical characterization of semiconductor ICs using nanoprobe systems and physical failure analysis tools to determine root causes of failures. Work within the hardware engineering / failure analysis team and collaborate with product, design, quality, and foundry engineering groups.

This role includes an initial training period of approximately 8–10 months on first shift; after successful training the position transitions to second-shift hours.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typical requirement is 1–2 years of hardware engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include electrical testing, failure isolation, data analysis, and cross-functional communication.

  • Conduct nanoprobe electrical characterization and measurements on semiconductor IC devices.
  • Analyze electrical behavior to identify root causes of design, reliability, or yield failures.
  • Use analytical tools, capture and process data, and maintain accurate experimental records.
  • Collaborate with product, design, quality, and foundry engineering teams to resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot independently and as part of a team; provide technical training and support on nanoprobing and failure analysis techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and documentation standards; stay current on industry techniques and tools.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for effective performance.

  • Hands-on experience with electrical characterization and lab-based semiconductor test techniques.
  • Experience in hardware engineering or related roles (typically 1–2 years).
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical results and collaborate with global cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort working independently in a laboratory environment and maintaining detailed records.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on nanoprobe analysis experience.
  • Theoretical knowledge of digital and analog CMOS circuits and ability to relate circuit function to failure signatures.
  • Experience with CAD layout tools and converting layouts to schematics.
  • Background in semiconductor IC failure analysis, structural debug (ATPG), and fault isolation techniques.

Education Requirements

Acceptable education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 2+ years hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 1+ year experience; OR PhD in a related field. The posting specifically lists a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communications as required and prefers a Master's in Electrical Engineering.
