Role Summary

Perform failure analysis and characterization for semiconductor products at the GlobalFoundries Singapore site. Support test engineering, debug electrical failures, and collaborate with designers and process groups to identify failure mechanisms and recommend corrective actions.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on failure analysis, test characterization, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Study product layouts and convert layouts into basic schematics to understand circuit function.
• Relate circuit function to observed failure signatures and propose debug strategies.
• Perform failure characterization on test vehicles and guide test engineering on test program setup for failure validation.
• Develop characterization plans and execute static and dynamic EFA (electrical failure analysis) setups and sanity checks.
• Analyze measurement data using tools such as Excel and JMP to assess criticality of failing dies.
• Interpret signal images and perform simple trace analysis to identify postulated PFA or nanoprobing regions of interest.
• Review inline/process/product feedback on failure suspects and propose approaches for further analysis.
• Prepare concise technical reports highlighting key issues and recommended next steps.
• Collaborate with designers and cross-functional teams to validate failure mechanisms and corrective actions.

• Solid knowledge of semiconductor fundamentals, circuit design, fabrication processes, and device physics.
• Practical experience with failure analysis techniques and electrical failure analysis (static and dynamic EFA).
• Ability to analyze layouts and convert to schematics to support root-cause analysis.
• Experience analyzing test and characterization data; familiarity with Excel and JMP for statistical analysis.
• Ability to set up and validate test/EFA instrumentation and interpret diagnostic signals.
• Strong ownership, proactive problem-solving, and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Nice-to-have: programming or scripting experience (Perl, VBA, C) to support data handling or test automation.
