Job Title
Fabric SOC Architect
Role Summary
Tenstorrent is hiring a performance architect to define and validate on-chip interconnect and coherence solutions for AI/HPC systems. You will bridge ML software, compilers, CPU design, cache coherence, and interconnect fabrics to improve end-to-end SoC performance.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates at multiple seniority levels are considered; the final level and offer will be determined during interview.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on system-level performance analysis and architecture for SoC fabrics and coherence.
- Analyze ML/AI workloads to derive traffic, latency, and bandwidth requirements for interconnects and caches.
- Design and evaluate NoC topologies, routing strategies, QoS, and traffic scheduling policies.
- Develop and validate performance models (pre-silicon and post-silicon) that drive CPU and accelerator microarchitecture decisions.
- Specify and assess cache coherence protocols and their impact on performance and complexity.
- Collaborate with compiler, CPU, and hardware teams to translate software-level behavior into silicon requirements.
- Provide data-driven trade studies and recommendations for memory hierarchies and IO subsystems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and proven experience relevant to SoC interconnect and coherence:
- Deep understanding of NoC topologies, routing algorithms, QoS mechanisms, and traffic scheduling.
- Expertise in cache coherence protocols (e.g., AMBA CHI/AXI) and modern memory/IO technologies (DDR, LPDDR, GDDR, PCIe, CCIX, CXL).
- Proficiency in C/C++ and experience building efficient performance models and simulators.
- Experience working across hardware and software boundaries and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to produce data-driven architectural tradeoffs and clear technical documentation.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with ML/AI traffic patterns or prior work validating coherence under AI workloads.
- Experience with formal verification of cache coherence protocols.
Education Requirements
BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
