Responsibilities
Primary technical and leadership responsibilities:
- Define and maintain end-to-end architecture for AI compilers and toolchains across the Physical AI product portfolio.
- Translate product, model and customer use cases into compiler requirements, interfaces and prioritized roadmaps.
- Guide design across front-end import, graph transforms, MLIR/LLVM IRs, optimization, partitioning, scheduling, memory planning and code generation.
- Align compiler architecture with accelerator runtime, compute-kernel libraries, firmware, verification and hardware architecture.
- Drive API/ABI consistency, portability and reuse while providing extension points for product-specific needs.
- Lead architecture and design reviews, risk assessments and proofs-of-concept for critical features.
- Decompose architecture into implementable epics, milestones and acceptance criteria with engineering leads.
- Analyze performance and quality gaps on representative AI workloads and guide cross-stack optimizations.
- Collaborate with global teams, customers and partners on integration, enablement and issue resolution.
- Mentor compiler engineers and improve architecture practices, documentation and engineering standards.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items noted separately.
- Must-have: Extensive industry experience in compiler development with senior technical ownership or architecture responsibility for complex software products.
- Strong knowledge of compiler design: intermediate representations, optimization, analysis, scheduling, memory management and code generation.
- Hands-on experience with LLVM and/or MLIR.
- Experience compiling for heterogeneous targets (AI accelerators, NPUs, DSPs, GPUs, vector processors or embedded CPUs).
- Proficiency in modern C++ and Python for prototyping, code review and cross-boundary diagnosis.
- Strong written and verbal communication and experience influencing decisions across distributed, cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with IREE, XLA or TVM; familiarity with PyTorch/TensorFlow/TFLite/ONNX flows; performance benchmarking and hardware-aware optimizations; knowledge of quantization, tensor layouts and operator fusion; experience with CI/CD and automated testing.
