Experienced Field Application Engineer, Nordic Region

Role Summary

Field Application Engineer (FAE) responsible for engaging with customers in the Nordic region to assess technical needs, propose appropriate GlobalFoundries technology solutions, and drive opportunities from qualification toward tapeout and production.

The role partners with account managers, product marketing, and internal technical experts to convert design wins into production-ready designs and advocate improvements where competitive gaps exist.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 15 years in the semiconductor industry (design and/or process) as specified.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical customer engagement, solution advocacy, internal coordination, and issue resolution to enable design wins and tapeout.

  • Engage customers to understand requirements for IC product development and recommend GF technology solutions.
  • Assess competitive landscape and articulate GF value propositions.
  • Create application-specific technical presentations with account managers and product marketing.
  • Collaborate with account management to align technical and commercial terms into design-winning proposals.
  • Identify and resolve technical or process issues to move designs to production-ready tapeout.
  • Advocate internally for product or process improvements to close competitive gaps.
  • Perform work per Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the semiconductor industry involving design and/or process.
  • Working knowledge of IC chip design flows and EDA tools from architecture through performance characterization.
  • Technical program management, problem solving, ownership, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and produce customer-facing technical materials.
  • Travel up to 20%, primarily within Europe with occasional intercontinental travel.
  • Fluency in English, written and verbal.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in semiconductor product design at chip or module level, including SoC integration.
  • Domain exposure in Digital, Analog/Mixed-Signal, HV Power, eNVM, millimetre wave, silicon photonics, or ultra-low-power IoT applications.
  • Advanced project management and organizational skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (e.g., applied physics) is specified as required; a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is listed as preferred. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree language.
