Senior - requires 7+ years of embedded software experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, integration, debugging, and validation of embedded platform software.
- Analyze requirements, hardware, and architecture documentation to define software solutions.
- Design, implement, and validate embedded platform software to meet system requirements.
- Develop and integrate firmware, drivers, subsystems (e.g., security), middleware, and host-side software, ensuring correct hardware–software integration.
- Support platform bring-up and perform root-cause analysis across hardware, firmware, protocols, and OS components.
- Establish design review and validation standards; coordinate with cross-functional teams, architects, customers, and open-source communities.
- Lead complex debugging efforts and resolve technical trade-offs while remaining hands-on in implementation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have:
- 7+ years of embedded software experience with demonstrated technical ownership of complex platforms or subsystems.
- Strong hands-on proficiency in C and low-level embedded development; experience with processor architecture, interrupts, DMA, synchronization, memory protection, and hardware–software interactions.
- Substantial expertise in one or more: Zephyr OS, RTOS-based MCU development, or embedded Linux platform development, including integrating firmware, drivers, middleware, and host-side software.
- Implementation or architectural experience in firmware development, platform security, or specification-driven software development; experience with secure boot is included.
- Proven ability to lead debugging, conduct architecture and code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams with strong technical documentation and planning skills.
-
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Rust.
- FPGA-based firmware development experience.
- Upstream open-source contributions.
- Experience developing software for NXP MCUs or MPUs.
- Experience with secure firmware updates, recovery systems, trusted firmware, and reasoning about trust boundaries and failure modes.
