Experienced Digital Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Keysight's ASIC design R&D team to lead physical design and tape release of digital and mixed-signal ASICs. The role focuses on taking designs from RTL to GDS, resolving complex physical design challenges, and coordinating with cross-functional teams and foundries.
Experience Level
Senior-level; typically 15 years of relevant ASIC design and tapeout experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include end-to-end physical design, validation, and tapeout coordination.
- Lead the physical design and tape release of digital and mixed-signal ASICs from RTL to GDS.
- Define floor planning, placement & routing (PNR), timing closure, and static timing analysis (STA).
- Implement low-power design techniques, clock distribution strategies, EMIR analysis, and physical verification.
- Perform close sign-off checks and interface with foundries to deliver GDS.
- Develop and maintain EDA tool flows; automate tasks and coordinate with vendors.
- Collaborate with architects, digital designers, and IP validation teams to align architecture with physical constraints.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer application and design issues.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and technical skills.
- Approximately 15 years of ASIC design and tapeout experience; demonstrable industry tapeout record.
- Proven ability to work independently in fast-paced R&D projects and to lead technical efforts.
- Proficiency with physical design and sign-off tools such as Innovus, Tempus, Voltus, and Genus.
- Experience with scripting and task automation to support tool flows.
- Strong fundamentals in ASIC design, digital architectures, and DSP.
- Leadership skills and effective written and verbal communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience managing foundry interfaces and GDS delivery processes.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
