Job Title
Experienced Analog/Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate high-speed analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for serial communications as part of MACOM's product development team in Newport Beach. The role covers schematic design, simulation, silicon bring-up, lab characterization, and support through product qualification and release.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant analog IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include design, verification, and hands-on evaluation of analog/high-frequency IC blocks and support throughout the product lifecycle.
- Architect and design high-speed analog/mixed-signal blocks (equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, TIAs, ADCs/DACs).
- Create and run circuit simulations and system-level analyses to validate designs.
- Plan and perform silicon bring-up, prototype evaluation, and debug in the lab.
- Support product flow from definition through qualification and release.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (layout, test, system engineers) and communicate results to technical and management audiences.
- Travel as required to support development or manufacturing activities.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Minimum 5+ years experience in analog high-frequency/high-speed IC design in CMOS and/or BiCMOS technologies.
- Proven silicon track record delivering high-speed blocks or products (e.g., Gbps equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, TIAs, ADCs/DACs).
- Solid understanding of analog and high-frequency circuit design fundamentals.
- Proficiency with EDA design tools and circuit simulators.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment (real-time and sampling scopes, signal/pattern generators, spectrum analyzers, VNAs) for prototype evaluation and debug.
- Ability to support a product through the entire development, qualification, and release cycle; strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with electromagnetic (EMX/HFSS) and system-level simulators (ADS, MATLAB).
- System-level knowledge of wired or optical link transmission/reception functions.
Education Requirements
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is required. The posting specifies a minimum of 5 years of analog IC design experience; no alternative "equivalent experience" wording was provided.
