EVA Systems Engineer
QualcommJob Title
EVA Systems Engineer
Role Summary
Design and optimize computer vision and video processing algorithms for on-device deployment on mobile and embedded platforms. Own system- and algorithm-level architecture, drive hardware/software requirements, and work with cross-functional teams to move features from research to production.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum experience depends on degree: typically 1β2+ years of relevant engineering experience per the posted minimum qualifications.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Define system- and algorithm-level architecture and decompose features to hardware and software requirements.
- Profile and optimize algorithms and models across memory, compute, power, and bandwidth constraints.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, product teams, and customers to commercialize technologies.
- Produce technical documentation, design specifications, and feature descriptions.
- Contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with distributed teams.
- Provide technical mentorship and influence technical decisions across teams.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Strong background in computer vision and video processing algorithms.
- Solid understanding of SoC architecture, including compute accelerators, memory hierarchies, and hardware/software interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with modern deep learning architectures and on-device deployment.
- Production-quality coding and optimization experience in Python and C/C++.
- Experience with ML/CV frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, and OpenCV.
- Experience with real-time computer vision systems or embedded AI deployment.
- Experience using performance profiling tools and hardware simulators.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with hardware modeling, FPGA prototyping, or RTL design.
- Prior experience optimizing models specifically for mobile/embedded accelerators.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications specify one of the following: Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2+ years of relevant engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 1+ year of relevant experience; OR a PhD in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
