Job Title

European Application Engineer - Calibre (m/f/d)

Role Summary

Member of the European Technical Organization responsible for technical engagements around the Calibre product line (physical and circuit verification). Work with customers and sales to drive product adoption, define success criteria, and deliver technical solutions that support sales campaigns.

Role is based in Germany with regular travel within Europe and occasional travel to the US.

Experience Level

Mid-level (mid-career). The posting targets experienced application engineers or candidates with significant hands-on experience in customer environments with verification tools.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities supporting customers and sales:

  • Build and maintain technical relationships with customers; gather and analyze technical requirements.
  • Drive product adoption by developing methodologies, flows, and integrating tools into customer environments.
  • Qualify and assess technical opportunities; define success criteria and feasibility for pilots and evaluations.
  • Provide technical leadership for sales campaigns and contribute to account technical plans.
  • Share competitive, account, and technology insights with sales, product teams, and management.
  • Support outbound activities such as trade shows, workshops, seminars, and webcasts.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Proven experience as an Application Engineer or significant experience supporting customers with physical verification (DRC, DFM) and circuit verification (LVS, PERC, PEX) tools.
  • Broad understanding of physical verification, circuit verification, extraction, and DFM methodologies and flows.
  • Expert-level scripting/programming in CAD environments (TCL/Tk, Python).
  • Working familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to customers and sales teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience writing rule decks (Calibre TVF, SVRF).
  • Hands-on experience or strong knowledge of EM/IR analysis.
  • Familiarity with competitive tools, netlist interfaces, and industry file formats.
  • Knowledge of compute farms, grid configuration, and monitoring.
  • Background as an analog or physical designer.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience) is stated as required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is listed as preferred. The posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in place of degrees.
