Ethernet Switch ASIC Design Engineer / Senior
QualcommJob Title
Ethernet Switch ASIC Design Engineer / Senior
Role Summary
Design and deliver RTL and timing-closed datapath and control logic for Ethernet switch subsystems on SoC products. Work on RTL implementation, synthesis, timing closure and chip bring-up while integrating with verification, firmware, architecture and validation teams.
Experience Level
Senior. Minimum experience guidance in the posting: typically 2+ years ASIC design experience with a Bachelor's degree (or 1+ year with a Master’s; see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on RTL implementation and system integration for Ethernet switching within SoC designs.
- Implement RTL design, synthesis flows, and timing closure for networking datapath and control logic.
- Participate in SoC integration with emphasis on Ethernet switch subsystems.
- Debug functional and performance issues across design, design verification, and validation teams.
- Collaborate with architecture, firmware, and validation teams to support chip bring-up.
Requirements
Key skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
- Proven ASIC development experience covering logic design, RTL coding, verification, synthesis, timing closure and physical design flow (must-have).
- Familiarity with Ethernet switching concepts such as L2/L3 forwarding, bridging/routing, packet processing pipelines, and basic QoS (queuing, scheduling) (must-have).
- Scripting or programming skills (C/C++, Tcl, Perl) are preferred for tooling and debug tasks (nice-to-have).
- Knowledge of AXI/NoC, PCIe or other high-speed interfaces (nice-to-have).
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate across architecture, firmware, DV and validation teams (must-have).
- Fluent in Chinese and English, both written and verbal (must-have).
- Ability to work under schedule pressure and meet tight deadlines (must-have).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or a related field with 2+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master’s degree in Science, Engineering or related field with 1+ year of such experience; OR PhD in Science, Engineering or a related field.
