Role Summary

The Equipment Engineer will maintain and repair high-volume wafer processing equipment in a semiconductor fab, working on a rotating Day–Day–Night shift pattern. The role focuses on minimising downtime, improving tool performance, and supporting manufacturing KPIs through hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

Mid-level. No explicit years-of-experience stated; role expects practical hands-on maintenance and diagnostic experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to maintain optimal equipment performance.
• Troubleshoot faults, perform repairs, and conduct root-cause analysis on diffusion and wafer-processing tools.
• Manage critical spare parts inventory to minimise equipment downtime.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
• Use data and KPIs to identify performance improvement opportunities.
• Work to 5S standards and comply with health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with production teams and external specialists to resolve technical issues quickly.

Requirements

Essential and beneficial skills and attributes.

• Must-have: Ability to work rotating 4 on / 4 off 12-hour shifts (days and nights).
• Must-have: Proven fault-finding and diagnostics skills on complex manufacturing equipment.
• Must-have: Strong communication and teamwork skills; commitment to 5S housekeeping and processes.
• Must-have: Right to work in the United Kingdom; visa sponsorship not available.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience with diffusion/deposition semiconductor toolsets.

Education Requirements

Applicants are expected to be qualified to HNC level in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. The organisation also offers potential funded academic support up to PhD level for eligible employees.
