Equipment Engineer
Role Summary
The Equipment Engineer will lead NPI and production support for integrated-circuit final test and wafer sort equipment. The role works with vendors, contract manufacturers, internal engineering and production teams to define, install, accept, maintain and improve test and handling equipment to meet manufacturability, yield, efficiency and uptime targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 3+ years of practical experience in equipment engineering or production test environments.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include equipment delivery and production readiness, ongoing maintenance, and driving uptime and reliability improvements.
- Define, install, accept and commission new test and handling equipment (mechanical, electro-optical and software aspects).
- Improve existing equipment uptime and MTBF; troubleshoot root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams to develop and qualify complex equipment solutions for NPI and mass production.
- Define and implement maintenance, monitoring and process controls to ensure equipment performance and utilization.

Must-have: 3+ years of practical experience in equipment support, NPI or production test environments.

Must-have: Technical experience with ATE (testers, handlers, probers) including operation and troubleshooting.

Must-have: Experience in machine functional definition across mechanics, optics/electro-optics and electrical systems.

Must-have: Experience with optical/electro-optical systems, lasers, fiber alignment or co-package optics test equipment used in NPI or mass production.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments; familiarity with OSATs is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.

Nice-to-have: Knowledge of optical components and modules; software programming experience (C++, Python, Perl, LabVIEW, Linux).
Education Requirements
Mechanical or Electrical Engineer qualification or Practical Engineer. Equivalent practical engineering experience is acceptable.
