Engineering Internship - Development of a CISPR 25 Emissions Simulation and Correlation Methodology
Role Summary
This internship joins NXP's EMC/ESD team in Toulouse to develop a simulation methodology for CISPR 25 conducted and radiated emissions and to correlate simulation results with laboratory measurements.
The objective is to deliver a validated simulation flow and guidelines that enable earlier EMC risk detection and improve first-pass success for automotive and industrial ICs and evaluation boards.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Target: final-year engineering student or Master's (Bac+5). Intended for candidates beginning their professional career in EMC/EM engineering.
Responsibilities
You will work with the EMC/ESD team to build a practical, validated simulation-to-measurement workflow for CISPR 25 emissions. Key responsibilities include:
- Review state-of-the-art CISPR 25 simulation and measurement methods.
- Analyze emission generation mechanisms at component and system level.
- Develop simulation models for main emission paths (IC, PCB, power, cabling, passive components).
- Implement a simulation flow to estimate CISPR 25 performance.
- Compare simulation outputs with EMC laboratory measurements and identify discrepancies.
- Identify dominant parameters affecting simulation/measurement correlation.
- Define validation criteria and provide recommendations and signoff guidelines.
- Validate the methodology on representative NXP products and evaluation boards.
- Document results and present findings to design and EMC teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful completion of the internship:
- Solid knowledge of analog and mixed-signal electronics.
- Fundamental understanding of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and emission mechanisms.
- Experience with circuit and electromagnetic simulation tools (examples: SPICE, ADS, CST, HFSS or equivalents).
- Familiarity with RF measurement techniques and laboratory instrumentation.
- Data analysis and modeling skills; ability to extract and interpret metrics from measurements and simulations.
- Scientific curiosity, autonomy, and initiative; able to work in a multi-site international team.
- Good level of English for technical collaboration and reporting.
Education Requirements
Final-year engineering student (école d'ingénieur) or Master's degree (Master 2 / Bac+5) in electronics, RF, electromagnetics, EMC, applied electromagnetics, or modeling and simulation of electronic systems. Equivalent academic background or closely related technical training is acceptable.
