Engineering Director - Verification IP

Role Summary

Lead the development and delivery of verification IP (VIP) solutions for advanced interfaces and protocols, directing a team that integrates with Questa RTL simulation. Based in Austin, TX, the role partners with cross-functional teams, field engineers, and customers worldwide to solve complex verification challenges.

Accountable for product architecture, technical strategy, roadmap decisions, quality, and team growth.

Experience Level

Senior-level; typically requires 18+ years of relevant professional experience in IP/VIP development, verification, or emulation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, product ownership, and customer-facing support.

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing verification engineering team.
  • Define architecture, design, and development of verification IP products for interfaces such as PCIe, USB, Ethernet, DDR, LPDDR, and CXL.
  • Drive technical strategy and product roadmaps, balancing customer requirements and long-term vision.
  • Collaborate with field and customer teams to understand requirements, deploy solutions, and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ensure product quality through comprehensive testing, coverage analysis, and verification methodology improvements.
  • Integrate verification solutions with Questa RTL simulation and other Siemens tools, and coordinate with global cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.

  • 18+ years of professional experience in IP/VIP development, verification, or emulation with demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM; proven ability to architect and implement complex verification frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with assertions, coverage metrics, test planning, BFM design, debug methodologies, and verification tracking tools.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one standard bus protocol (PCIe, CXL, USB, Ethernet, DDR, or CHI) and understanding of coherent and non-coherent architectures.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and mentoring engineers.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with C/SystemC-based test development and system-level verification; familiarity with CPU/GPU/display/network/memory subsystems; experience with emulation platforms and advanced verification methodologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required; advanced degree (Master's or PhD) is preferred.
