Job Title
Engineering Architect
Role Summary
Lead a distributed physical implementation team responsible for the physical feasibility and sign-off of Synopsys HPC controller soft IP across customer implementations. Ensure releases meet timing, power, area, and implementability targets and provide guidance and support to internal design teams and external customers.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive experience (15+ years) in physical design and place-and-route plus significant leadership experience (10+ years) managing engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include technical leadership, delivery sign-off, and customer support for HPC controller IP:
- Lead a distributed team of physical design engineers on multiple concurrent place-and-route projects.
- Define and own the physical feasibility sign-off process for soft IP releases (timing, power, area, implementability).
- Create and maintain physical implementation user guides and templates for product verticals.
- Support customers during implementation cycles on floorplan, hierarchical flows, and node-specific issues.
- Develop scalable flows, scripts, and sign-off criteria to ensure repeatability across configurations.
- Partner with RTL teams to drive structural design changes needed for physical success.
- Work with methodology and EDA tool teams to improve Fusion Compiler flows, constraint generation, and automation.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have: 15+ years hands-on experience in physical design and place-and-route with a track record of timing closure and tapeout.
-
Must-have: 10+ years in engineering leadership roles, preferably in ASIC or IP development.
-
Must-have: Deep expertise with Synopsys physical implementation tools, specifically Fusion Compiler, including hierarchical flows, clock tree synthesis, timing closure, and power optimization.
-
Must-have: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize work, and deliver on schedule.
-
Must-have: Strong communication and influence skills for cross-functional interaction and customer support.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience in HPC, networking, or high-speed controller IP development.
-
Nice-to-have: Background in customer-facing technical support or field applications engineering; experience with constraint generation and automation.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
