Engineer, Tapeout Engineering
Role Summary
Execute and coordinate daily tapeout operations within Global Tapeout and Mask Operations (GTMO) to ensure high quality and optimized cycle time for semiconductor wafer manufacturing.
Work closely with internal teams (OPC, Frame, Tapeout Logistics and Integration, Global Shuttle Operations, Product Life Cycle Manufacturing) to validate tapeout data, release mask data, and implement improvements to tapeout workflows.
Experience Level
Entry-level. 0–2 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include the following:
- Perform tapeout tasks such as Design Rule Checking (DRC), Mask Data Preparation (MDP), tapeout data validation, and data release for fracture.
- Collaborate with global tapeout and mask operations teams to develop and implement methodologies that improve efficiency, reduce cost, and shorten cycle time.
- Troubleshoot and debug EDA tool runs and failures.
- Collect, maintain, and report tapeout metrics and KPIs; support development of corrective action plans.
- Own and maintain tapeout FMEAs, best-practice documentation, and training materials; conduct internal training when required.
- Automate tapeout process flows using scripting to improve repeatability and throughput.
- Work onsite 40 hours per week in the Bengaluru office; be flexible to cover assigned shift patterns (Sun–Thu or Tue–Sat) as needed.
- Perform all work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Must-have
- Fluency in English, written and verbal.
- Available for full-time onsite work in Bengaluru and flexible to assigned shift schedules.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to debug EDA tool runs and investigate failures.
- Physically available for full-time work throughout the year.
Nice-to-have
- Proficiency with Linux commands and directory structure; familiarity with LSF.
- Experience with scripting and automation: Python, Shell, Tcl, and basic MySQL.
- Experience with EDA tools (Mentor Graphics/Siemens, Synopsys, Cadence) is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BE/B.Tech) with specialization in Electrical engineering-focus areas such as VLSI, Microelectronics, or related technical fields. The role specifies 0–2 years of professional experience.
