Engineer, System Level Test Automation Development

Role Summary

Member of the System Level Test (SLT) engineering team responsible for automation, tools, and test development to validate and stress Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip products. Work spans IC hardware testing, software development, system engineering, and production screening during volume ramp.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 0–3 years of relevant hands-on silicon validation or system test experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on automation, data analysis, and collaboration to evaluate system behavior and develop production screens.

  • Develop software tools, drivers, and user interfaces to automate SLT equipment and increase team efficiency.
  • Analyze automated test data and produce dashboards and reports for team use.
  • Partner with software and system teams to evaluate integrated digital/RF performance across voltage, process, and thermal corners.
  • Define and develop effective production test screens for system-level issues during volume ramp.
  • Work with project leads to translate specifications and silicon behavior into validation test cases.
  • Operate in a fast-paced environment and perform as an individual contributor when required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience required for the role. Preferred items are listed separately.

Must-have
  • 0–3 years hands-on experience in silicon validation, system/software/bench testing, or HW–SW integration.
  • Proficiency in programming: C#, .NET, C/C++, and Python.
  • Experience with source control (Perforce, Git, or equivalent).
  • Debugging and triage experience using Android debugging tools, JTAG, Lauterbach, or Trace32.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems (Android, Windows, Linux, or RTOS).
  • Embedded software development experience and/or FPGA programming.
  • Ability to read HW schematics/data sheets and develop silicon validation test cases.
Nice-to-have
  • Familiarity with Android architecture, boot process, kernel, BSP, and performance analysis.
  • Experience developing on Android/Windows/Linux platforms.
  • Exposure to lab measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and wireless network simulators.
  • Internship or prior project experience in mobile, automotive, compute, or microprocessor industries.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required: BSEE or Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree (MSEE) preferred. Equivalent practical experience accepted where noted.
