Role Summary
Join an engineering team that designs and improves electron‑beam imaging products for semiconductor manufacturing. The role focuses on system‑level design across optics, electron optics, detectors, HV electronics, vacuum and machine control, and requires hands‑on experiment setup, characterization and integration.
Experience Level
Entry-level — candidates typically have a dual degree plus ~2 years of relevant experience, or hold a Doctorate. (Experience guidance: about 2 years for dual‑degree candidates; PhD candidates may be considered at hire.)
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system design, development, and customer support across product subsystems.
- Design new and improve existing electron‑beam imaging products and subsystems (optics, detectors, HV electronics, vacuum, wafer handling, machine control).
- Specify software, algorithm and hardware requirements; perform characterization, integration and maintenance.
- Set up experiments, perform modelling and detailed data analysis to solve complex technical problems.
- Develop and validate detection/classification algorithms and imaging solutions in product context.
- Provide on‑site customer support in Asia (Taiwan, Korea, Singapore) and undergo training in Singapore and US offices.
- Travel frequently — typical travel expectation is 75–90% for customer support and field activities.
Requirements

- Must have: Hands‑on experience in instrumentation, scientific data analysis or machine control; demonstrated ability to set up experiments, model systems and analyze data.
- Must have: Proficiency in scripting for scientific data collection and analysis (MATLAB, Python, or similar).
- Must have: Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to produce technical presentations and documentation.
- Nice to have: Experience with vacuum systems, electron optics, high voltage for scanning electron microscopes, or electro‑optical systems.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with detectors, imaging subsystems, wafer transfer systems, and classification algorithms.
Education Requirements
Required: Doctorate (PhD) OR Master's degree OR dual degree (integrated master) in Physics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials & Metallurgical Engineering.
