Engineer, SSD Validation

Role Summary

Responsible for end-to-end performance and power maturity of assigned data center SSD programs, from early bring-up through customer qualification. The role leads technical execution, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional alignment across firmware, architecture, systems, and product teams.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include owning program execution for performance and power, performing technical debug, and coordinating cross-functional activities.

  • Own end-to-end performance and power readiness for assigned SSD programs from firmware maturity through customer qualification.
  • Deliver high-quality performance and power data aligned with program goals and report program status to stakeholders.
  • Perform in-depth performance analysis and root-cause debugging of firmware and hardware interactions.
  • Identify performance risks early and coordinate mitigations with firmware, architecture, and system teams.
  • Represent performance perspective in Product Change Request scoping and lead implementation on programs.
  • Plan and forecast infrastructure and test needs to support program execution and qualification.
  • Drive process alignment with the DC SSD Performance Test Strategy and share best practices across sites.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve efficiency, quality, and analysis where appropriate.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and capabilities required to perform the role.

  • Strong background in SSD performance and power characterization.
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis, workload execution, and performance debugging.
  • Solid understanding of firmware–hardware interactions affecting latency, bandwidth, and power.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to internal and external partners.
  • Ability to apply digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly.
  • Experience collaborating across firmware, architecture, systems, QA, and product development teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
