Engineer, SoC Performance
QualcommJob Title
Engineer, SoC Performance
Role Summary
Work on system-level performance validation, analysis, and optimization for multimedia and compute SoCs across pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms. Validate multimedia use cases, identify performance bottlenecks, and collaborate with architecture, design, software, power, and multimedia teams to meet performance goals.
Experience Level
Entry-level - typically 1β2 years of relevant experience in embedded systems, SoC validation, or system performance.
Responsibilities
Execute validation and analysis tasks to measure and improve SoC multimedia performance.
- Perform system-level performance validation on pre-silicon (RUMI, emulation, simulation) and post-silicon platforms.
- Develop and run multimedia and system-level workloads, test vectors, and concurrency scenarios.
- Collect, analyze, and debug performance metrics such as bandwidth, latency, throughput, and QoS.
- Investigate bottlenecks across multimedia IPs, SMMU, cache, NoC, memory controller, DDR, power, and software stacks.
- Work with Architecture, Design, DV, Software, Power, and Multimedia teams to drive issue resolution and performance optimizations.
- Contribute to automation, performance sign-off activities, technical reviews, and project deliverables.
Requirements
Core technical skills and hands-on experience required to perform the role.
Must-have:- 1β2 years of experience in embedded systems, SoC validation, system performance, or a related domain.
- Strong analytical and system-level debugging skills.
- Proficient in C; familiarity with Python and Shell scripting.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Android fundamentals (scheduling, memory management, kernel concepts).
- Basic understanding of SoC architecture, memory hierarchy, interconnects (NoC), and performance analysis.
- Experience with pre-silicon platforms (RUMI, emulation, FPGA, or simulation environments).
- Exposure to multimedia subsystems (Display, Video, Camera, Graphics).
- Familiarity with performance profiling tools, counters, traces, and workload analysis.
- Experience debugging system-level performance issues in mobile or compute SoCs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
