Job Title
Engineer, SIG Electrical Design
Role Summary
The Systems Integration Group (SIG) electrical design engineer designs and delivers analog, power, and mixed-signal hardware for semiconductor test systems. The role covers the full hardware lifecycle from concept and schematic capture through validation, deployment, and sustaining support.
The position works within a cross-functional engineering team to develop reliable test solutions used in manufacturing and product validation.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience designing analog and power electronic circuits.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, verification, and support of electronic hardware for test systems:
- Design analog, power, and mixed-signal circuits from concept through implementation and validation.
- Select and evaluate components to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
- Create schematics and work with PCB designers to produce optimized board layouts.
- Perform circuit simulation and analysis using industry-standard tools.
- Debug and validate PCB assemblies using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, DMMs).
- Produce and maintain technical documentation: specifications, design documents, test plans, and validation reports.
- Develop scripts and automation to improve design efficiency and data analysis.
- Participate in design reviews and provide engineering recommendations.
- Support prototype deployment, customer validation, issue resolution, and sustaining engineering for released products.
- Manage engineering changes with configuration management and version control processes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing analog and power electronic circuits (listed under Experience Level).
- Experience with DC-DC power conversion and switched-mode power supply (SMPS) topologies.
- Proficiency with PCB schematic capture and EDA tools such as Siemens Xpedition, Cadence OrCAD, KiCad, or similar.
- Experience using circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or comparable applications.
- Practical experience operating laboratory test equipment including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic loads.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience designing mixed-signal systems for test, manufacturing, or semiconductor applications.
- Experience supporting products through prototype development, deployment, and sustaining engineering.
- Programming or scripting experience for design automation, test automation, or data analysis.
- Familiarity with AI tools and large language model prompting techniques to improve engineering productivity.
- Experience participating in technical design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field plus 3+ years of relevant experience. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
