Role Summary

The Intrinsic Reliability (iRel) Engineer will characterize and de-risk novel electrochemical biosensors and magnetoresistive sensors through device reliability testing and lifetime analysis. The role sits in the iRel group in Limerick and works with electronics, physics and materials engineering teams to evaluate technology robustness for product and process lifetime.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities include reliability characterization, test development, modelling and cross-team collaboration to identify and mitigate device/process risks.

  • Characterize electrochemical biosensors and magnetoresistive/semiconductor devices using reliability and lifetime testing.
  • Engage early in new technology developments to assess design, manufacturing and customer risks.
  • Design and execute bespoke stress tests and lifetime acceleration techniques to de-risk novel devices.
  • Develop statistical lifetime models and analyze lifetime data to evaluate robustness.
  • Collaborate with failure analysis and process/product development teams to localize failures and determine root causes.
  • Keep current with industry best practices and participate in device/circuit reliability conferences.

Requirements

Core skills and qualifications required or considered advantageous.

  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities effectively.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Practical experience with device testing, data analysis, or reliability workflows is desirable.
  • Experience with Python or JMP for lifetime data modelling is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering practices is an advantage.
  • May require export licensing review for access to certain technical data (applicants should be aware of potential export-control eligibility checks).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, materials science or a related technical field is required. A Master’s degree or relevant early-career work experience is advantageous. The posting references academic degrees only; no certifications were specified.
